Message From Danny
To all supporters of MetroStars and football in South Australia welcome to the Round of 32 of the Australia Cup.
Tomorrow we welcome all the players and officials of Western Australian NPL club Inglewood United Football Club to TK Shutter Reserve.
Due to this Australia Cup clash we competed in the NPL Round 21 last week against relegation candidates Sturt Lions FC. Following the two week break and an earlier kick off time we didn’t start as well as we would have liked letting Sturt in for an early chance to get ahead on the game. It wasn’t long though until we found our rhythm against a resilient Sturt side that were determined to slow the game down and frustrate us. However we broke though in the end with JT getting pulled down in to penalty area giving us a penalty which Hamish Gow duly converted to take us into the break with a 1-0 lead.
In the second half we came out playing with a much higher intensity and moved the ball quicker. Goals from James Temelkovski, Christian D’Angelo and Michael Cittadini put us 4 goals to the good allowing us to rest a few players for the match up tomorrow.
That victory puts us 6 points clear at the top of the table with only 2 games left for our rivals. Any slip up from Campbelltown this week against Adelaide City and we will be crowned Premiers next week prior to the Modbury Jets final round. A win and we set out to do what we always do next week and win the game against Modbury Jets and continue our unbeaten run of 20 games we have built up since the Round 8 clash against Adelaide United.
Tomorrow should be an exciting night for everyone at the club. One of the main goals from the start of the season was to progress to the National competition so we can challenge ourselves against the very best sides in Australia.
We welcome Inglewood United from Western Australia tomorrow who despite their league position are a strong side that can cause teams problems with their strength and pace going forward. We are expecting an entertaining football game tomorrow as Inglewood are a team that likes to play football so it should be a good game for all the supporters.
We have done our research and prepared well for this game so hopefully we can put in a performance tomorrow which not only makes our MetroStars fanbase proud but also all of the South Australian football community.
We will need you all to be our 12th man tomorrow and get behind the team and show them why South Australian football is as strong as it is.
Finally a special thanks to all our volunteers and sponsors that made tomorrow possible. The work that goes on behind the scenes for us to host a night like tomorrow is remarkable and I hope we put on a performance tomorrow that can make all those efforts worthwhile.
