Graystone Appointed Full Time Senior NPL Coach
MetroStars is delighted to announce the appointment of Danny Graystone as the club’s first Full Time Senior NPL Coach and Club Technical Director for season 2023.
Danny Graystone becomes only the 8th person to coach the club at the elite level in the past 26 seasons, and has been appointed in a full-time capacity, as the club builds towards the changing landscape coming soon in Australian Football.
Along with his role as Senior NPL Coach, Danny will also have the role of Club Technical Director working with the MiniRoo and Junior Technical Directors. In this role, he will oversee and develop the Junior Coaching Development Program and the Youth Player Pathway Development Program, encompassing both Juniors and Seniors thus further aligning both structures.
Danny is returning to Adelaide after having spent 3 years with Melbourne Victory. In his time there he was the Head Academy Coach (U13-16) before being appointed Youth Team Coach & Academy Lead Coach, a newly created role by the A-League club that brought the structure of the professional development department in line with structures at successful development clubs throughout Europe.
Graystone was previously involved with MetroStars in 2013 as a Specialist Coach working under Senior Coach Ivan Karlovic, after departing his position as Senior Coach of Cove FC where he led the club in 2011 and 2012.
He followed this up by spending four seasons with South Adelaide Panthers between 2014 and 2017 as Senior Coach, leading the club into their first season of the National Premier League SA competition
In 2018, Graystone moved to Cairns and was appointed Head Coach of Cairns FC in the National Premier League Queensland competition.
After the club withdrew from the NPLQ competition for season 2019, Graystone moved to Victoria where he commenced his tenure with Melbourne Victory.
Having arrived in Australia from the UK in 2004, Danny commenced his Australian Career by amassing 146 matches over nine seasons with South Adelaide, Cumberland and Cove FC before turning to coaching.
