R5 Preview - Adelaide Comets vs. MetroStars

We preview Round 5 in the National Premier Leagues - SA competition as MetroStars travel to the SA Athletics Stadium to face Adelaide Comets this Saturday afternoon.

MetroStars come into this game following an emphatic 4-0 win over Modbury Jets last Friday night.

It didn’t take long for MetroStars to stamp their authority on the game, with Timothy Henderson nodding home a looping corner from former Red Fabian Barbiero to take the lead in the sixth minute.

Nahuel Bonada doubled his side’s advantage on 45 minutes after a neat one-two with Hamish Gow, beating the keeper one on one by calmly sliding the ball into the bottom corner.

It was another fast start to the second half as Bonada doubled up in the 50th minute, latching onto a low Christian Esposito cross and firing in off the far post.

The striker saved his best for last, however, as he controlled a Dylan Smith clearance with his head before lobbing the keeper from range to complete his hat-trick and seal a four-star performance for MetroStars.

1st placed Adelaide Comets are coming off a 2-1 win over Croydon Kings. An Allan Welsh double saw the Mile End based club climb to the top of the league table after overcoming a resilient Croydon Kings side.

Defender Tim Henderson is set to make his 100th appearance for the club, having played 190 matches in total. Hamish Gow is set to make his 50th appeance for the club.

Striker Tom Strain will face a late fitness test ahead of the game. Defender Justin Davis is available for selection after overcoming his ACL injury.
