Amateurs Round Up: Modbury Jets 7-3 MetroStars
MetroStars had a tough start to life in the South Australian Amateur Soccer League as the SAASL Club Challenge Series got underway last weekend.
The first round of the season saw MetroStars make to the trip to Smith Partners Stadium to face Division 3 side Modbury Jets.
Modbury opened the scoring and charged into a 3-0 lead inside half an hour. Joseph Alvarez won a penalty on the 35th minute which he confidently converted to make it 3-1 at the half time break.
The Jets turned it up a notch in the second half and scored quickly to increase their lead. Substitute Samuel Livori linked up with brother Jackson to decrease the deficit however several defensive mistakes allowed to Modbury to capitalise with further goals. Substitute Dedan Johns scored a consolation for Metro.

It was a similar story in the Reserves as Modbury scored 3 goals without reply in the first half.
MetroStars opened the second half much stronger before harshly conceding another two goals. Daniel Franchina finding the net for MetroStars first ever goal in SAASL competitions. Substitute Cavey added a consolation goal late on after good build up play from Sfyrios and Truscott.
