2017 Coaching Vacancies 2017 Trials Information
As we kick off our Senior Team competition, many of our Juniors and MiniRoos are preparing for the commencement of their season. With a full complement of teams ranging from Under 6 through to Under 17, preseason training has commenced at various offsite locations. Of course, our teams are all looking forward to commencing training TK Shutter, where they will bein a position to interact with their peers far easier and take advantage of thegreat resources this club has to offer.
2017 will be an exciting year for MetroStars. Now fielding State League teams up to Under15, our players are ready to tackle both leagues. A diverse career path for our players is now possible, whether it is developing through the Premier League or State league. We are also in a better position to provide development paths for players across both leagues. All in all, MetroStars now has 17 MiniRoo teams covering our Under 6 through to our U11 players and 10 Junior teams covering our Under 12 through to Under 17.
Off the pitch will be as interesting as on the pitch his year! With a forecast of warmer than average weather and drier conditions, we are expecting that few games will be cancelled this year. This is the opposite of last year, where the above average rainfall caused a number of games to be postponed across the state. Whilst at times game postponement was expected, many a Sunday morning's enthusiasm was dampened when arriving at a rain soaked pitch that was akin to a swimming pool rather than a soccer oval.
Why not drop by one Sunday morning to watch our aspiring MiniRoos and Juniors play in their respective leagues? In true Metro style, you will enjoy the spirited games of our Under 6 learning to play as a team through to our U17s preparing for the next phase of their career. With free entry to the games, Sunday mornings are always an exciting time at MetroStars! Junior games commence on March 19 across the state, with the majority of our first home games scheduled for March 26. Our MiniRoos take to the pitches on April 2.
SARACENO APPOINTED COACH FOR 2017
North Eastern MetroStars wishes to advise that Robbie Saraceno has been appointed Senior Head Coach for next season’s National Premier League - SA competition.
Club President Andrew Perrone made the official announcement today.
"I mentioned in my previous announcement earlier this year, that Robbie Saraceno, who was our Assistant Coach at the time, was the obvious choice to take the reins following Michael Pirone’s resignation,” Said Perrone.
"Fast forward from Round 8 where we were sitting in relegation zone on seven points, to Round 22 which has seen a 28 point turnaround to bring our team into finals contention.”
"This is attributed firstly by the efforts of the players to step up, but also from the leadership qualities that Robbie has brought to the team. His meticulous planning, clear direction and belief in our team has inspired confidence through the playing group and support staff to strive and achieve our goals.”
Saraceno guided our club to our fourth Federation Cup title this season, which led us to another shot at the FFA Cup competition.
"Our team’s performance in the recent FFA Cup Round of 32 against Bentleigh Greens is a tribute to the progress made since Round 8 and effort from all around,” said Perrone.
"Robbie has proven his worth as head coach for the MetroStars and deserved appointment to the role for next season.”
Saraceno, who previously coached White City Woodville for three seasons between 2012-2014, is looking forward to the challenge.
"I didn’t have any intention of coaching again to be honest, but during the year the passion came back to me,” said Saraceno.
"Now I am looking forward to working with a good bunch of players to hopefully see them develop and be successful.”
"Our focus at the moment is this weekend’s elimination finals match against WT Birkalla.”
We congratulate Robbie Saraceno on his new appointment, and wish him well in for the Final Series campaign commencing this weekend.
